The New Orleans metro area, along with parts of Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes, was under flood advisories Thursday morning as strong thunderstorms soaked southeast Louisiana.
National Weather Service forecasters issued a flash flood warning for parts of Jefferson Parish, including Kenner and the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, after a heavy storm had already dropped 3 to 5 inches of rain in northwest Jefferson Parish as of 7 a.m. Up to 3 more inches are possible, and the warning was in effect until 8:30 a.m.
Forecasters also issued a separate flood advisory, warning that excessive rainfall was likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas in northern Jefferson Parish, Orleans Parish, northwestern Plaquemines Parish and northwestern St. Bernard Parish. The advisory was in effect through 8:30 a.m…
