A cold front today will bring rain and cooler weather to the Ozarks. Rain is most likely north of I-44 this morning, slowly sliding southeast through the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the low 80s in many spots thanks to cloud cover and a light west-northwest breeze.
Rainfall amounts so far have been great in West Central Missouri, with many locations seeing between 0.50″ and 1″. The rain will tend to weaken a little as it moves southeast through the midday, and amounts may fall between 0.25″ and 0.50″ around Springfield. Rain and storms may gain strength in the afternoon south of I-44 again.
Temperatures today will be the coolest in over a month, with many spots in the upper 70s to low 80s. Temperatures tonight will dip into the upper 60s.
Rain may linger for part of the day on Friday in far Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s with partly cloudy skies. Additional rain is possible with a weak front on Saturday, especially west of Highway 65, but the chances there are more uncertain.
Temperatures this weekend will be hotter, in the low to mid-90s on Saturday and Sunday. Monday looks hot too, in the mid to upper 90s before another cold front blows in on Tuesday. Similar to Saturday’s cold front, Tuesday’s front will struggle to make it south to the Highway 60 corridor. Temperatures will hold steady in the upper 80s to low 90s for much of next week…
