Boise Public Library denies request to remove Princess Pete picture book from its shelves

On Wednesday, the Boise Library Commission considered, and rejected, a request to remove a children’s book from its collection.

Under a 2024 Idaho law, residents can petition for the removal of books deemed “harmful to children.”

The petition was signed by 15 members of the community who asked the library to remove the illustrated book Princess Pete, by author Zoey Allen. The story is recommended for readers ages three to seven.
