MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — With Friday marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, plenty of events along the Grand Strand and in the Pee Dee are set to remember it.
MYRTLE BEACH
The city’s annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Friday at the Unity Memorial in Warbird Park. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to the General Robert H. Reed Recreation Center on Gabreski Lane.
The Myrtle Beach Fire Department will honor first responders with the annual star climb. The event begins at 8:46 a.m. Friday at The Yachtsman Resort on N. Ocean Boulevard. Each participant will climb the equivalent of 110 stories of the World Trade Center.
CONWAY
Coastal Carolina University Army ROTC will honor the lives lost during 9/11 with its third annual Memorial Stair Climb. More than 80 CCU Army ROTC cadets will gather at the CCU Victory Bell in the TD Sports Complex at 6:30 a.m. Friday, before entering Brooks Stadium.
The Conway police and fire departments will hold a 9/11 Anniversary Commemoration at The Terrace on Laurel Street. The gathering begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday, with the commemoration beginning at 8:46 a.m.
SURFSIDE BEACH
