MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — Bedford Township’s Downtown Development Authority voted Thursday to terminate its agreement for Flock cameras, ending the township’s participation in a regional camera network used by law enforcement to investigate crime.
The decision came during the DDA’s meeting, where Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough discussed the township’s options following the Monroe County Board of Commissioners passing a resolution last week that will end Flock system funding.
According to Goodnough, Bedford Township spends about $12,000 on Flock cameras annually, an agreement the township first entered into back in 2023. In that agreement, the sheriff stated that about 20 Flock cameras were installed across the county, including the city of Monroe, Monroe Charter Township, Frenchtown Township and Bedford Township.
