A traditional tribute ride that began with about 20 riders six years ago has grown to more than 140: the annual Law Enforcement and First Responders Thank You Ride.
The group is made up of present-day or retired first-responders as well as surviving family members of responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty, in off-duty incidents or due to illness. It was co-founded by retired New Castle County Captain Brian Shahan and Wilmington Police Department Sergeant Jamie Tobin about six years ago, after a previous tribute ride was cancelled due to the DOVID-19 pandemic.
