Nearly four months since fires tore through the Bishop Estates neighborhood and surrounding area in Potter County, survivors are still struggling with cleanup and recovery.
The residents of the area, located northwest of Amarillo near the city’s landfill, say no contractor has been hired yet to pick up debris, which they needed to have gathered by Sept. 1. The fire impacted a total of 77 homes, with 52 of them destroyed and many others damaged, along with other structures, trees and property.
The last public county discussion determining the cleanup details was held at the Potter County Commissioners’ Court meeting on July 27.
