BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – A proposed 2% sales tax would fund new entertainment districts planned for Bossier City.
Economic development attorney Michael Busada said the money would come with built-in accountability.
“You see every dollar that goes in. You can trace every single dollar where it goes, and you can literally drive over to the district to say, you promised me y’all were going to have additional security. Is it there or is it not there? It’s very easy to hold people accountable,” Busada said. “Every year there will be a full audit that’s required of these districts that will go to the legislative auditor. So you’ll be able to see, unlike, you know, a broader city budget, you’ll be able to see every single thing and you can trust but verify.”
Who would pay the tax
Busada said the proposed tax would not cost businesses. Customers would pay it in small increments with each purchase…
