ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the suspects arrested in connection to a 2025 deadly shooting near Albuquerque’s Old Town will remain behind bars until his trial.
Albuquerque police arrest man after stopping vehicle with flashing lights and siren
Police say 19-year-old Luiz Ortiz met a group of teens, including Alonzo Cuarenta, in a parking lot on Rio Grande. Investigators believe Ortiz was selling alcohol to the group before a fight broke out and shots were fired. Ortiz was later found shot and killed in his car. Police say the group fled the scene, but later returned to grab a gun and alcohol from Ortiz’s vehicle.
Cuarenta is facing multiple charges, including murder and armed robbery. Judge Clara Moran granted the motion for pretrial detention Cuarenta will remain in custody while waiting for his trial…
