Vacant downtown building racks up more than $100,000 in fines

From the Ask Joe file: the future of the Sundowner Hotel tower on North Arlington Avenue is unclear. The building has been empty since it closed in 2003. But while it unused, the city of Reno’s code enforcement team has been busy citing the owners for a number of violations ranging from the general appearance of the property to electrical issues.

City officials say the owner of the property has paid $115,000 in code enforcement fines so far and owes an outstanding balance of $9,765 when we last checked.

The city says it’s doing all it can do to force the owners, Pine Cone Circle Investments, to keep the property updated and in good condition…
