GDOT seeks input on Williams Road widening project

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The Georgia Department of Transportation is asking for public input on a project to widen a stretch of Williams Road in north Columbus.

At an open house Wednesday night, GDOT officials laid out plans to widen Williams Road between I-185 and Veterans Parkway. The project includes a center turn lane, new sidewalks, a shared-use path and roundabouts at key intersections to improve traffic flow and safety.

“We think this project will be a great benefit to this area and allow people to travel through the corridor a lot better, as well as walking and biking,” said William Easton, GDOT TIA regional coordinator…
