FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Advancements in DNA testing technology have allowed investigators to identify a suspect in a decades-old home invasion and rape cold case, the Fayetteville Police Department announced Thursday.
In July of 1990, detectives with the police department responded to a call about a home robbery and sexual assault at a home in the city. When investigators arrived, they found the victim, but the suspect had already fled the scene.
Investigators said the suspect broke into the home and pointed a gun at the victim before raping and assaulting the person. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment…
