More than 40 independently owned restaurants across Elk Grove are rolling out discounts and special offers this week as Diversity Dining Week returns to the city through Sept. 13. The promotion, running Sept. 4-13, 2026, highlights the variety of cuisines and locally owned eateries found throughout the fast-growing Sacramento County suburb.
The event is hosted in partnership with the City of Elk Grove, and the full roster of participating restaurants and their offers is listed at diversitydiningweek.org. Casey Fabbri, director of marketing and events with Explore Elk Grove, and Chef Liang Han of Fujiya joined KCRA 3 Thursday morning to discuss the week’s lineup, according to the station’s report.
Diversity Dining Week is part of Elk Grove’s broader Diversity Month celebration, a monthlong civic initiative presented in partnership with Kaiser Permanente that features seven distinct public events, including film screenings, cultural workshops, and food events, according to the City of Elk Grove. The city’s 2025 population estimate of 185,007 residents includes a demographic mix of 31.5% Asian, 17.9% Hispanic or Latino, 10.7% Black, and 15.8% multiracial residents, per the U.S. Census Bureau — a demographic backdrop that underscores the rationale for the citywide celebration.
A Digital Push for Local Spending
Explore Elk Grove is also running a social media incentive tied to the dining week, entering diners who post meal photos on Instagram and tag @explorelkgrove into a Sept. 14 raffle for three $100 local eGift cards, according to a post on the tourism bureau’s Facebook page.
