A witness near a fire station on Mount Hamilton spotted a man pointing a rifle out of a Toyota SUV, prompting a traffic stop that turned up a second weapon, a hidden pistol, and outstanding warrants for two of the three men inside. Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies say the encounter, which unfolded in the Mount Hamilton Range, ended without violence despite the arsenal found in the vehicle.
According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office
, deputies who responded found a rifle and a pellet gun in plain view inside the SUV, along with a camouflaged case concealing a semi-automatic pistol loaded with a full magazine. A cooler packed with beer, including open containers, was also found inside the vehicle. Two of the three men inside had outstanding warrants tied to alleged crimes committed in San Jose and were arrested, while the driver now faces firearms-related charges, the sheriff’s office said.
