The man shot by a Brink’s armored car guard after stealing a bag of money outside a Loop department store last year has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison, court records show. Prosecutors say it was the second time in less than two months he robbed a Brink’s driver downtown, although he was not shot the first time.
U.S. District Judge Andrea Wood sentenced Dajon Harris, 24, to 18 months after he pleaded guilty to interference with commerce by threat or violence. Prosecutors had asked for 32 months.
In a sentencing memorandum, prosecutors described four months of escalating criminal conduct in 2025 that included two Brink’s robberies, a bank theft, and an arrest for allegedly possessing a stolen vehicle. They called the conduct “incredibly serious and dangerous.”…
