It’s been a blazing start to September across South-Central Texas. Through the first 10 days of the month, San Antonio has recorded an average high temperature of 98 degrees – about 5 degrees above normal and ranks as the seventh-hottest start to the month on record.
The hot September weather is expected to continue Friday and into the weekend, as high-atmospheric pressure continues to hover over the Lone Star State. San Antonio high temperatures will rise to around 10 degrees above-average, with overnight low temps also expected to be more than 5 degrees warmer than normal.
Long-range weather models, however, are starting to point out when temperatures may start to cool down – or at least become less hot – with high temps down into the low to mid-90s. Here’s what you can expect.
Friday’s forecast
A mild and muggy start is expected Friday morning as temperatures in San Antonio will sit in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees through 9 a.m. With mostly sunny skies in place, temps will rise steadily, reaching the low 90s by noon before eventually topping out near 99 degrees by the late afternoon.
Humidity levels will also be very high throughout the day, which will lead to heat index values reaching 105 degrees as early as 1 p.m. Humidity will drop slightly by the late afternoon, but heat index temps will still be near 103 degrees by 4 p.m…
