LAS VEGAS, NV — Nevada State Police say they have taken William Bierlein into custody more than 13 years after he became wanted on a probation violation warrant. Authorities say Bierlein was arrested in Asheville, North Carolina, on June 30, 2026, then transferred back to Nevada and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Sept. 3.
The arrest closes a long-running search that stemmed from a 2008 fatal collision and Bierlein’s later probation status. NSP says alcohol was determined to be a factor in the crash, which also left Bierlein hospitalized. He was arrested on April 28, 2009, before later absconding from probation supervision, according to the agency.
How the 2008 crash led to the probation warrant
The case traces back to a deadly collision in 2008. Nevada State Police say the crash involved Bierlein and that the wreck was fatal, with alcohol identified as a contributing factor at the time. Bierlein was also hospitalized as a result of the collision.
After the crash, authorities arrested him on April 28, 2009. NSP says his case later shifted from the crash investigation to supervision conditions tied to probation, and that he ultimately failed to remain under that supervision.
