BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County coroner’s office has identified the 55-year-old man who was killed in a traffic collision earlier this week as Jose Manuel Mendez Camacho, of Avenal.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Camacho was operating a 2006 Chevrolet eastbound on Highway 46 at Wildwood Road in Wasco when he collided with a 43-year-old man, who was driving a 2026 Ford westbound on Highway 46.

CHP previously said the driver of the Ford failed to yield at the intersection and turned into the path of the Chevrolet, crashing into the side of the vehicle, around 6:16 a.m. on Sept. 9.
