- Army veteran Fredie Littles III, who was inspired to join the military after witnessing the events of 9/11, is now retired and actively helping other veterans in need.
AIKEN — Fredie Littles III, as a South Aiken High School sophomore in the 2001-02 academic year, was standing in the school’s cafeteria on the morning of Sept. 11, when he learned of high drama taking place in New York City. Details were sketchy, and precautions included a school lockdown.
The day’s horror, Littles recalled, was shown on some TVs around the school and helped forge a path that led him into the U.S. military, “When I saw it, I said I wanted to join the military and go get revenge on them,” he said, adding that he got on board for an early-entry program and joined the Army in 2004.
The Montmorenci resident, 25 years after the carnage and calamity, is now an Army retiree, living in Montmorenci and helping other veterans deal with life’s challenges…
