HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Evansville Police Merit Commission is expected to recommend the termination of an officer who was previously accused of pointing a gun at a fellow officer during an incident last year.
A hearing to decide if Anthony Stephenson’s suspension will be modified to termination is scheduled to take place on October 12. Stephenson was previously charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm. However, he was found not guilty following a jury trial back in June.
Evansville Police say on April 25, 2025, Stephenson approached three officers at the Fraternal Order of Police on Court Street shortly after closing, and attempted to get them to continue celebrating at another bar.
