Neighbors voice questions, concerns as Corewell outlines $1.3B Butterworth expansion

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Heritage Hill residents say they understand the need for Corewell Health’s proposed $1.3 billion expansion of Butterworth Hospital, but several Thursday questioned how it would affect parking, traffic and historic homes in the neighborhood.

Residents shared their concerns during an open house Corewell hosted at First United Methodist Church to introduce the project to the neighborhood and answer questions.

Anne Eleve, who owns a five-unit rental property next to the proposed expansion site, said she worries that construction, helicopter activity and hospital lighting could discourage people from renting her property, jeopardizing an important source of income…
