Fatal Ring Print: Lakeland Woman Charged After Autopsy Disproves Infant Co-Sleeping Claim

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 42-year-old Jessica Vlasac of Lakeland on Thursday, September 10, charging her with first-degree aggravated child abuse resulting in the death of a 3-month-old infant in her care.

First responders were called to Vlasac’s residence around 11:58 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, following a report of an unresponsive infant. The baby boy was transported to Orlando Health Medical in Lakeland, where medical staff pronounced him dead shortly after arrival. Attending personnel noted visible bruising and an abrasion on the infant’s head.

During initial questioning, Vlasac told deputies that she fell asleep with the child in her bed and remembered nothing until waking to find him face down, motionless, and cold to the touch.
