COPA clears cop who went viral for pointing gun during South Side street takeover (video)

A Chicago police officer who went viral after a video showed her pointing her firearm out of a CPD wagon during a street takeover two summers ago has been cleared of wrongdoing by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, better known as COPA.

The brief video, recorded on August 5, 2024, showed a street takeover at the intersection of 59th Street and Pulaski Road. A white vehicle was doing donuts in the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic. As a CPD wagon tried to drive through the crowd of people and vehicles, a female officer pointed her firearm out of the passenger-side window at one or more people in the street.
