MILWAUKEE — A recent Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) study found flooding in Bay View would have occurred even if a clogged overflow pipe had been clear.
Heavy rain in April overwhelmed Milwaukee’s drainage system, causing water to back up into streets and basements for the second time in less than a year. In July, MMSD discovered a major clog in an overflow pipe on Jones Island and said it may have contributed to flooding in the Bay View neighborhood.
MMSD now says its computer model showed the backups would have happened even without debris in the pipe…
