Salem 9/11 memorial features World Trade Center steel beams and a piece of the Pentagon

SALEM, Ore. — As we look back on September 11, 2001, 25 years later, Oregon officials are inviting the public to visit the 9/11 Memorial in Salem.

The memorial consists of steel beams recovered from the wreckage of the World Trade Center and a piece of the Pentagon after it was struck by Flight 77 that same day.

The pieces were collected in 2002 after the Oregon Fire Education Association set out to create a permanent 9/11 memorial in the state…
