A tragic accident claimed the life of four-year-old Hellayna Michelle King on September 2 at her family’s farm in Clark County, Nevada. Hellayna was riding on a trailer attached to a tractor when the vehicle suddenly stopped, causing her to fall off. The tractor then reversed and tragically ran over her, according to Clark County Coroner Neal Oliver.
Family members present at the scene immediately called for emergency assistance, but a nearby bridge closure delayed the ambulance’s arrival by nearly 45 minutes. Loved ones remained by Hellayna’s side during this critical time.
Her aunt, LaDonna Lovings, expressed the family’s heartbreak and uncertainty about whether a faster emergency response could have changed the outcome. “If the bridge had been open, it would’ve taken them maybe 15, 20 minutes to get there,” she said. “It may have made a difference, and it may not have, but having someone there sooner would have mattered.”
Hellayna was approaching her fifth birthday in October, a milestone her family now faces with deep sorrow. LaDonna reflected on the profound loss: “Nothing can prepare you for having to say goodbye to your niece, your daughter, or bonus daughter. Words can’t express how much we miss her.”
In her obituary, Hellayna is remembered as a bright and lively child who brought joy to everyone around her. She loved to sing and embraced life with a joyful spirit, whether playing outside, helping on the farm, or sharing her sweet voice. Her family and all who knew her mourn the loss of a vibrant young life taken far too soon.
