Southeast Bulloch secured the win in its first-ever meeting with Westside after its defense stepped up.
Southeast Bulloch’s defense came to play after a one-hour lightning delay, forcing multiple turnovers against Westside. The Yellow Jackets capitalized on multiple Westside penalties, and they stopped the Patriots on fourth down with 20 seconds left to seal the game.
Defense Takes the Lead
The game started with a good first-down run from Westside, gaining 12 yards, but two penalties stalled the drive. Westside then fumbled the punt, giving Southeast Bulloch the ball right outside the red zone. The Yellow Jackets couldn’t capitalize on the turnover, as they missed a field goal.
On Westside’s next drive, the Patriots continued to go backward, and Brant Horst tackled the ball carrier in the end zone for a safety, giving Southeast Bulloch a 2-0 lead…
