SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – As the Spokane Independent Investigative Response (SIIR) Team continues to examine the officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Joel Malin outside Evergreen Middle School on Tuesday, video footage of the incident from the Spokane Police Department has recently surfaced online.
Attorneys representing the Malin family released the following statement on Friday, responding to this newly released video footage.
“It is with profound sadness that the family watches the video, reviews the information and absorbs this tragedy. This is an unbelievably tragic death, and we send our condolences to all involved. We need better attention and resources for kids who struggle with mental health issues and we need to end bullying in our schools.…
