Anchorage firefighters honor fallen 9/11 responders – and test themselves

Firefighter Tanner Loewe stepped down from the stairclimber, flushed and panting.

He was wearing a full turnout suit – which can weigh up to 100 pounds – and he had just finished 11 minutes of climbing as fast as he could. Sweat trickled down his cheeks.
