People arrived at the Erie Center for Arts and Technology hours before sunrise, as early as 3 a.m., hoping to secure a spot for free medical, dental, and vision care through Remote Area Medical, or RAM.
The long wait was worth it for people who may not otherwise have access to the care they need. From waiting in the parking lot to eventually taking their turns inside the clinic, patients came from near and far for services provided at no cost.
Brad Sands, a core volunteer with RAM, said the organization works to help people who may not otherwise be able to afford or access care.
“Many of these people don’t have access, or maybe they can’t afford the access they do have, and that’s where we come in. We try to bridge that gap, give these people the care they desperately need and do it free of charge.”…
