GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A roughly $19 million plan to transform the former Stocking Elementary School into affordable apartments was approved Thursday by the Grand Rapids Planning Commission, but construction hinges on receiving low-income housing tax credits.
Commonwealth Development Corporation of America plans to renovate the vacant school at 863 Seventh St. NW and construct two apartment buildings, creating 48 apartments on the 3.5-acre property.
