CONWAY, S.C. — About 150 visitors and local residents gathered Friday morning at The Terrace in Conway to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and honor the lives lost that day.
The Conway Police Department and Conway Fire Department hosted the Sept. 11 commemoration service, which began at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the World Trade Center in New York City.
Conway Mayor Barbara Blain welcomed those in attendance before the Conway High School JROTC presented the colors. Jackson Cooper led the national anthem, followed by an invocation from Gary Lee.
