One person was left in critical, life-threatening condition after a crash at Montana Avenue and Lorne Road in East El Paso on Thursday night, September 10, 2026, according to the El Paso Fire Department. The department received the call at 8:46 p.m., and the patient was airlifted to a local hospital as crews worked the scene along one of the city’s busiest commuter corridors.
According to KFOX14/CBS4, initial reports did not indicate that any other people were injured in the crash. The severity of the lone victim’s injuries triggered a FireSTAR response, El Paso Fire officials said. FireSTAR operates as a flying intensive care unit through a five-year agreement the department signed with Air Methods in late 2024, giving crews the ability to perform advanced field resuscitation and ventilator care mid-flight, according to KVIA.
