The Eugene Emeralds advanced to the Northwest League Championship Series for the second straight year. For the second straight year, the SF Giants High-A affiliate did not come out on top.
Eugene has been a Giants minor league affiliate since the 2021 season. In that time, they have reached the Championship Series four times, and split those four series. Their most recent titles were in 2021 and 2022.
Oddly enough, that 2022 title run came against the Vancouver Canadians. That is the same team, not the same roster, that defeated them this time around. This team swept the Emeralds in three games, including a 9-8 win in extra innings on Friday night to secure the title.
