Officers were sent to the 100 block of Edgewood Street on Sunday after police received a report of gunfire in Baltimore’s Allendale neighborhood, launching a fresh investigation in a corner of Southwest Baltimore that has seen repeated bursts of violence in recent years. Orange cones were placed next to evidence at the scene, centered around an alleyway near the intersection of Edgewood Street and West Caton Avenue.
A crime lab technician assisted with evidence collection at the site, according to WBFF, whose reporter Margaret Ybarra covered the scene as police began investigating the shooting. The station said it was working to gather additional information as the probe continued.
A Neighborhood With a Recent History of Gunfire
Sunday’s investigation adds to a string of violent incidents that have touched the same stretch of West Baltimore. On Friday, September 11, Hoodline reported a violent Allendale cutting on West Franklin Street that left a 49-year-old man injured and a 43-year-old suspect jailed.
The pattern stretches back further. In April 2025, Baltimore Police officers responded to reported gunfire in the 600 block of Allendale Street and found an unidentified male victim who died at the scene from gunshot wounds, according to the Baltimore Police Department. Later that same month, Southwestern District detectives investigated a double shooting on the same block after a 17-year-old male victim was found wounded inside a home and a 17-year-old female arrived at an area hospital as a walk-in patient, as reported by CBS News…
