The empty San Francisco Centre is back where it started. First it was foreclosed upon. Then a buyer walked away from a signed deal. Now the shuttered mall has drawn a new round of offers, with developers submitting yet more ideas to reimagine the 1.2-million-square-foot albatross weighing down downtown’s recovery.
One of those bids was delivered this week by Urban Land Development and TMG Partners, which teamed up to pitch a plan to transform the mall into a multilevel complex with a sports-focused high school on the top floor, an entertainment zone centered around basketball on the third, two floors of retail, and an underground food court.
The bottom floors would be open to the public, while everything above would be available only to members, program participants, and students enrolled in the prep academy, according to sources…
