Georgia authorities are searching for a man who allegedly spent more than three hours inside a private property, used the homeowners’ pool and hot tub, interacted with a rubber duck for more than 10 minutes and left with six beach towels worth about $1,200. As reported by Dexerto, the Chatham County Police Department said the incident happened at a home in the 9,000 block of Whitefield Avenue.
Surveillance footage showed the unidentified man on the property between about 2:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 1, according to police. Investigators said the man did not simply enter the property and take something before leaving. He allegedly spent time using the homeowners’ pool before moving to the hot tub, where he noticed a rubber duck. Police said the footage captured him spending more than 10 minutes focused on the toy.
The department said the man appeared to become “infatuated” with the rubber duck while sitting in the hot tub. Other reports based on the surveillance footage said he appeared to kiss the duck during the encounter, although police have mainly described the behavior as intense interaction with the toy.
Police Are Still Gathering Information
The unusual activity happened during a long overnight stay at the home. Police have not said exactly how the man got onto the property or whether anyone inside the residence was awake when he arrived, but the surveillance footage gave investigators a clear window for when the alleged trespassing occurred…
