A profound wave of community support is sweeping across central Nebraska as family, friends, and schools mourn the loss of 16-year-old Payton Ackerson, a sophomore at High Plains Community Schools who, according to Solt-Wagner Funeral Home, died following an e-bike accident on Sept. 5.
According to family and school reports, Payton was life-flighted to Children’s Nebraska in Omaha, where she later passed away on Sept. 6.
