Firefighters with Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) were called to a reported commercial fire at an abandoned building along Highway 99 on Friday, Sept. 11.
At 9:31 a.m., ESF crews were dispatched to Porky’s at 796 Highway 99. ESF said the structure had previously been identified as abandoned and was listed by the department’s Fire Marshal’s division as an unsafe building for crews to operate in.
Engine 8 arrived five minutes after dispatch and reported fire on the exterior of the building. Crews quickly knocked down the exterior fire while Truck 2 worked to gain access by opening boarded-up doors on three sides of the structure…
