University Place street racers arrested after speeding 107 mph in a 35-mph zone

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Street racing on a busy University Place roadway ended with two arrests and both vehicles impounded after a deputy said he saw two drivers start a high-speed race.

On Sept. 8 around 9:30 p.m., a University Place deputy was conducting a speed emphasis on Bridgeport Way W when he saw two cars slow alongside each other and then accelerate together at high speeds. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but it was unsuccessful.

After checking the area, the deputy later spotted both unlicensed cars parked side-by-side in a parking lot and determined there was probable cause for reckless driving and street racing…
