New ranking reveals top Ohio ZIP codes for unclaimed funds

OHIO — The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Unclaimed Funds recently released a list ranking the state’s ZIP codes based on the amount of unclaimed money belonging within those communities.

There is currently $5.4 billion in unclaimed funds the division is safeguarding. Ohioans can see how their own ZIP code compares and then conduct a search to find out if any of the funds belong to them by clicking here.

The top five ZIP codes for unclaimed funds are:

  1. 45840: Findlay, Hancock County with $24.8 million in unclaimed funds
  2. 43215: Columbus, Franklin County with $23.9 million
  3. 45202: Cincinnati, Hamilton County with $22.9 million
  4. 44122: Beachwood, Cuyahoga County with $20.7 million
  5. 45501: Springfield, Clark County with $17.6 million

“When we see Ohio communities with especially high amounts of unclaimed funds, it reminds us how important it is for people to check and claim what belongs to them. We don’t want anyone to leave money behind,” Division Superintendent Akil Hardy said. “We’re committed to returning more money to Ohioans as quickly as possible by investing in technology that makes the claims process faster and easier.”…
