MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – It’s the middle of September, but yet, we’re giving you the First Alert to another steamy day ahead. All of this ahead of a cold front, which will bring in cooler and drier air for the middle of the week.
TODAY
Expect plenty of sunshine today and a warm forecast to kickoff the new work week.
We’re on record watch today, where highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s will make a run for a new record for the Grand Strand. The previous record is 90° set back in 2020. We’re forecasting a warm 90° for the Grand Strand, but there will be a few locations that stay in the upper 80s.
As you move inland, expect temperatures to climb into the low-mid 90s. It’s a warm afternoon, but not record-breaking warmth for Florence or Lumberton today. We’ll fall a couple degrees shy of those records.
Factor in the humidity today and the heat index will reach 100-103° this afternoon…
