RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A vital early childhood reading program that delivers free monthly books to thousands of children across northern Nevada has been placed on hold following the loss of public grant funding.
United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) is actively seeking community donors and corporate sponsors to revive Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free, age-appropriate books by mail to children from birth up to their fifth birthday.
At its peak, the regional initiative reached more than 9,500 children each month across 12 northern Nevada counties, spanning from urban centers like Reno and Sparks out to remote rural communities including Elko, Pershing, and Humboldt counties…
