Akron neighbors say school pick-up traffic puts kids at risk

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Community members near East Community Learning Center, previously known as East High School, say daily school pick-up traffic is creating safety concerns in their neighborhood.

Adults picking up students line up on Ford Road and other neighborhood roads near the school, leaving room for only one car to pass on many school days.

Neighbors describe daily concerns

Stacy Kitay lives in the neighborhood adjacent to Akron’s East High School. She said cars line up from 3 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. every day to pick up kids from school.

“Unfortunately, people feel that they’re entitled and they can do what they want, but you can’t when it’s the safety of our kids,” Kitay said…
