The landlord may have sold the Meeting Street building downtown and forced Theatre 99 out of their longtime home, but the Charleston comedy troupe will continue to bring their laughs off the peninsula.
The sale of 280 Meeting St. that housed the theater and other local businesses came after a contentious effort to redevelop the 1918-era property in late 2025.
A proposal to demolish the building was rejected by a city board, but the property was ultimately sold with plans to convert it into seven luxury residences, leaving Theatre 99 looking for a new home after more than 20 years.
