KERNERSVILLE — The West Stokes boys and girls cross country teams competed against some of the state’s top programs Friday, Sept. 11 at the Friday Night Lights XC Festival, hosted by Mount Tabor High School at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex.
Senior Bryan Morrison led the way for the Wildcats, winning the boys’ 5,000-meter race outright in a field of more than 300 runners with a time of 15:47.10. The West Stokes boys’ team finished 17th out of the large field with 451 points.
The West Stokes girls’ team turned in the stronger overall team performance of the night, placing fourth out of the full field with 229 points, finishing just two points behind third-place Cedar Ridge. Sophomore Emma Zimmerman paced the Wildcats, crossing the line 25th overall in 20:39.90.
West Stokes’ scoring runners were Zimmerman (25th, 20:39.90), Piper Mathis (28th, 20:43.10), Abby Maxwell (42nd, 21:03.70), Chloe Shiffert (51st, 21:20.10) and Claire Edmonds (100th, 22:30.20). Caroline Molesa (118th, 22:57.00) and Sarah Lawson (188th, 24:38.40) also competed for the Wildcats…
