(KRON) — Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 64-year-old man died from injuries sustained in an attack in Sonoma, police announced Monday.
The victim was identified as Sonoma resident John Francis Avila by the Sonoma Police Department. Avila suffered significant head trauma and was found unconscious at Sonoma Plaza by first responders on Sept. 7 around 10:30 p.m. He succumbed to his injuries Sunday morning.
“Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Investigation Detectives launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, utilizing area surveillance footage, Automated License Plate Readers, physical evidence, and witness statements,” Sonoma PD wrote. “Investigators determined that four individuals physically assaulted the victim, causing the injuries that ultimately led to his death.”…
