Delaware leaders ceremonially broke ground on a massive shipping container terminal on Monday, launching a project that supporters say will create thousands of jobs and bring billions of dollars in business to the state.
The terminal will sit in Edgemoor, northeast of downtown Wilmington, along the Delaware River. The site was previously home to a DuPont chemical plant.
Supporters say the public-private partnership will quadruple Delaware’s shipping capability. But some people who live nearby are pushing back, raising concerns about increased truck traffic, pollution and the potential environmental impact of the project…
