Everything is crumbling, but David Huckfelt, a Midwestern folk musician and activist, is putting out a new album, just eight months after the last one — a scoop he shared with Little Village.
The Spencer, Iowa native built his dexterity as a songwriter and guitarist around campfires with folks like Dave Moore, Greg Brown and Iris DeMent. His most recent album, I Was Born, But…, was a love letter to the artists who inspired him, and featured songs written up to 150 years ago. He’ll play songs old and brand-new at the James Theater in Iowa City on Sept. 18, accompanied by Jeremy Ylvisaker, who previously collaborated with John Prine, Bon Iver, Grace Potter and other icons. Iowa guitar virtuoso Dustin Busch will open for the duo.
