It’s virtually impossible to count the number of seasonal and year-round waterfalls in the Ozarks, but to say they’re impressive is an understatement. And while some cascades can be found steps from a main road, others are the crowning jewel at the end of a scenic hike that makes you work for your reward. Hidden in the Ozarks, the Glory Hole Waterfall Trail is definitely the latter.
Measuring over 2 miles out-and-back, this trail offers both incredible pine and hardwood forest scenery and the chance to see what Arkansas State Parks calls “one of Arkansas’ most recognizable waterfalls” and Redditors refer to as the “worst named waterfall in America.” At the midway point, Glory Hole Falls pours roughly 30 feet through a circular opening in the sandstone grotto that’s been carved by the flow of water over time.
